Sami Spenner broke her own school record in the heptathlon for the
second time this year, helping the USA Track & Field team to a win
in the annual Thorpe Cup competition between the U.S. and Germany.The meet features seven women from each country competing head-to-head in the heptathlon and seven men each in the decathlon.
Spenner finished with 5,898 points, beating her previous record of 5,806 to finish fourth overall in the field of 12 athletes. The American women had the top five finishers. The men's team lost to the Germans.
