"We are very excited to have Alex join our team," said Pioneers head
coach Erik Billinger. "Alex has proven to be a fighter and his
determination and winning attitude will certainly benefit our program.
The guys are very happy to learn from Alex and in turn we hope to teach
Alex a few things as well this season."
Alex
has been fighting Burkitt's Lymphoma since 2011, a type of cancer that
begins in the body's immune cells. Upon being diagnosed, he underwent
five months of intensive chemotherapy. His cancer is in remission and he
currently gets scans, blood work and various tests to check his heart,
lung and kidney functions.
