WIU Softball Receives NCAA Public Recognition Award

Head coach Holly Van Vlymen and the Western Illinois Leatherneck softball team was recently congratulated by the NCAA for being a recipient of the NCAA Public Recognition Award. 
 
The NCAA Public Recognition Awards are given to teams that have an NCAA Division I Academic Progress Rate in the 'Top 10' percent of all squads in their respective sports.

NDSU Names Justin St. Clair Assistant Track and Field Coach

The North Dakota State men's and women's track and field programs have announced the addition of Justin St. Clair to the staff. He will work primarily with the throwing events.

"We are very excited to add Justin to our staff," said associate head coach Stevie Keller. "He brings great experience both coaching and recruiting."

St. Clair comes to Fargo after spending two years as the Director of Sports Performance and Fitness at Strive Physical Therapy and Fitness in North Carolina. He was responsible for designing and implementing diet, fitness and assisting with rehabilitation programs as well as marketing and membership sales.

TopDrawerSoccer.com Ranks Top 20 Men’s and Women’s Players in Summit League


As part of its league-by-league ranking of top 20 players, TopDrawerSoccer.com announced its list for The Summit League this week. IPFW’s Max Touloute held the top spot on the men’s side, while North Dakota State’s Morgan DeMike leads the women’s rankings.

ESPN2 to Televise Team USA Pan Am Matchup

USA Basketball has announced that the Women’s National Team Pan American Games matchup vs. Mexico, scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 23 at 8 pm CT, will air live on ESPN2. The game features Oral Roberts University junior guard Kevi Luper.

In addition, should Luper and Team USA qualify for the semifinals, scheduled for Monday, Oct. 24, ESPN2 will air the game either live or on a brief tape delay. Depending on seeding, the game would start at either 1 pm or 8 pm CT.

Information on potential broadcasts of Team USA’s other group stage games, including Friday, Oct. 21 against Argentina and Saturday, Oct. 22 against Puerto Rico, has not been announced. Broadcast information for Medal Round games on Oct. 25 has also not been released.

IPFW's McGill Named Top Performer by CVU.com

IPFW libero Tessa McGill was named one of the CVU.com Top Performers of the week after helping the Mastodons go undefeated (2-0) in league play.  For the week, the junior tallied 57 digs, averaging 7.12 per set.

IUPUI's O'Brien Named IWGA Alice O'Neal Dye Player of the Year

IUPUI senior women's golfer Kristi O'Brien was recently named the Indiana Women's Golf Association Alice O'Neal Dye Player of the Year Award recipient, according to Indiana Golf. The Fort Wayne-native edged out Kristi Cardwell by a half point to earn her first career recognition.

O'Brien strung together three sharp rounds (72-69-69) at The Fort to finish 8-under par and capture the Women's State Amateur in late July. At the Women's Match Play Championship at Prairie View, she advanced to the quarterfinals before falling to eventual champion KC Cain.
