ORU's Schlehuber Joins Kansas City Royals Organization

First baseman Jared Schlehuber, the 2012 Summit League Player of the Year, has signed a free agent contract with the Kansas City Royals organization. Details of the contract were not released. 

Schubert agreed to terms with the organization and made the trip up to Idaho Falls, Idaho on Thursday. After passing the physical, the two parties signed the contract, making him the third Golden Eagle to sign a professional contract this year after Cam Schiller (Texas Rangers) and Bennett Pickar (Detroit Tigers) each signed with their respective teams after being selected in the 2012 MLB Draft.

IUPUI's Ni Begins U.S. Olympic Trials Wednesday

Former IUPUI diver Chen Ni begins her quest towards capturing a spot on the U.S. Olympic Diving Team tomorrow (June 20) when the women’s platform preliminaries begin at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Diving Trials hosted at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash.

Ni, a two-time National Champion for the Jaguars in the women’s platform, begins her Olympic Trials on Wednesday upon completion of the men’s 3-meter springboard, which takes place at 1 p.m. ET. The semifinals resume at 10 p.m. ET Wednesday evening and will be aired live on NBC Sports Network.

Former NDSU Standout Chasing Olympic Dream

Former North Dakota State track standout Laura (Hermanson) Januszewski, who finished as runner-up in the 800m at the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Championships, is pushing for a spot on the Olympic team. She will be competing at this week's U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials in Eugene, Ore., for a chance to race in at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Oakland's Busch Earns Olympic Trial Cut

Oakland women's swimmer Alyssa Busch earned an Olympic Trials qualifying time in the 100-meter backstroke at the 2012 OLY Long Course Senior Challenge at the OU Aquatic Center over the weekend. She won the event and made her trial cut with a time of 1:03.30. 

Busch will join teammate Alex Aceino, who earned a qualifying time last summer in the 100-meter butterfly, at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials at CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Neb. for a chance to represent their country at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.  

The U.S. Olympic Trials begin June 25 and conclude on July 2 with prelims beginning at 11 a.m. ET and finals starting at 7:45 ET each day.
