Former
South Dakota State University pitcher Blake Treinen made his major league debut by pitching two scoreless innings in relief for the
Washington Nationals Saturday night in a game against the Atlanta
Braves.
Treinen is
the second former Jackrabbit to make it to the top level of
professional baseball in as many seasons, joining fellow pitcher Caleb
Thielbar of the Minnesota Twins. The Nationals made the move to add Treinen to the roster late Friday night.
Treinen and Thielbar are the lone former Summit League stars on active MLB rosters and Treinen becomes the 18th player in league history in the Majors.
