Southern Utah University junior Analaine Pelaez-Mailoto was named to the COBRA Magazine All-West Region team at the beginning of Decemeber and closed out the month being recognized by the publication a second time with third-team All-National team honors.
Pelaez-Mailoto led the Thunderbird attack in 2011 with a team-best 515 kills, averaging 4.15 per set. She was also tops on the team with 375 digs and 31 service aces.
The award is Pelaez-Mailoto's third of the postseason, having already garnered her third consecutive first-team all-Summit League honor.
COBRA magazine's purpose is to celebrate the success of volleyball players of African as well as Samoan and Tongan descent in hopes of encouraging young girls of those ethnic groups across the country to pursue the sport.
