The UMKC volleyball team recently traveled to Center Middle School for Celebrity Reading Day where they read to four different groups of sixth graders.During each group the team read several different books to the students, including Shel Silverstein's The Giving Tree, while also answering questions from the students with topics ranging from volleyball, to college life, to classes and numerous other topics. In the sessions, UMKC student-athletes discussed the importance of reading with the sixth graders for the educational value, as well as for personal enjoyment.
